Navigating Climate ChangePosted on Jan 30, 2014 in Main
Read Navigating Change, Hawaii’s Approach to Adaptation, a report presented by Gov. Abercrombie at the first meeting of President Obama’s Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience.
In November 2013, the President appointed Gov. Abercrombie as one of only eight governors to serve on the task force, a tremendous opportunity to share Hawaii’s unique perspective and needs so the federal government can better support our local efforts.
UPDATE: While participating in a panel discussion on July 17 at the 22nd Hawaii Conservation Conference, Gov. Abercrombie shared an update from the President’s Task Force.
“One thing was apparent despite our vast geographic, topographic and community differences – today’s climate changes are warning bells signaling the necessity for preparedness now … The Hawaiian Islands are a learning laboratory for scalable, innovative mitigation, adaptation policies and techniques, and providing a model on local and regional collaboration.”
– Gov. Neil Abercrombie
