HONOLULU — In observance of the 73rd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor and other installations across Oahu, Gov. David Ige today ordered that all Hawaii flags at all state offices and agencies as well as the Hawaii National Guard are to be flown at half-staff alongside U.S. flags from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014.

President Barack Obama has proclaimed Dec. 7, 2014, as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. In his proclamation, President Obama stated:

“Today, with solemn gratitude, we recall the sacrifice of all who served during World War II, especially those who gave their last full measure of devotion and the families they left behind. As proud heirs to the freedom and progress secured by those who came before us, we pledge to uphold their legacy and honor their memory.”
