USAG NEWS RELEASE: July training advisory for Schofield Barracks

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii (June 28, 2016) — Local service members are scheduled to conduct various training here in July that may be heard by surrounding communities.
For the community’s awareness, the training is as follows. Please note, all training dates are subject to change based on environmental and other factors:

June
• June 29-30:
Marine Corps helicopter gunnery. Training is planned for nighttime hours (9 p.m.-midnight).

July
• July 6-10:
Army mortar training
• July 11-31:
Army Lightning Academy training with blank ammunition and explosive simulators on East Range. Training is planned for both daytime and nighttime hours.
• July 11-15:
Army demolitions training
• July 25-29:
Marine Corps mortar and artillery training. Training is planned for both daytime and nighttime hours.
• July 25-30:
Army mortar training
• July 30-31:
Army demolitions training

Should individuals hear noise, there is no immediate danger. Weather, such as overcast conditions, can increase noise and vibrations.
The military services in Hawaii appreciate the community’s understanding and continued support of local service members and families. While sometimes loud, the sounds of training represent how the military ensures the nation’s service members are ready to accomplish the mission and return home safely.

The Army produces a monthly schedule of ground training activities to alert its neighbors of upcoming training activities that are louder in nature and may be heard outside the military installation. This schedule is subject to change and is not inclusive of all Army aviation activities or East Range training activities between Wahiawa and Mililani Mauka.
