ATG NEWS RELEASE: Court denies TRO to stop airport shuttle servicePosted on Oct 13, 2017 in Latest Department News
HONOLULU – State circuit judge Jeffrey P. Crabtree today denied a motion brought by losing concessionaire SpeediShuttle to enjoin the operation of shuttle service by winning concessionaire Roberts Hawaii, Inc., at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu (the “Airport”).
SpeediShuttle’s 6-year contract with the state Department of Transportation (DOT) ended this year. After issuing a request for proposals, DOT awarded a new contract to Roberts Hawaii, Inc., on August 4, 2017. SpeediShuttle then sought a temporary restraining order from the court to stop the new concessionaire from operating shuttle service. Today’s ruling means shuttle service at the Airport may continue.
The State of Hawaii was represented internally by Deputy Attorneys General Michael Q. Y. Lau, Julia H. Verbrugge, and John H. Price. SpeediShuttle was represented by attorneys A. Bernard Bays and Leinaala L. Ley.
