OAHU LANE CLOSURES

FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 11 – MAY 17

 

PLEASE NOTE:

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.
All projects are weather permitting.

 

— H-1 FREEWAY —

 

1) HALAWA

Alternating lane closure on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction in the vicinity of Moanalua Road on Monday, May 13, through Thursday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., for delineator work.

 

2) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Pali Highway overpass and the Middle Street underpass on Friday, May 10, through Friday, May 17, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

3) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction in the vicinity of the Liliha Street overpass on Friday, May 10, through Friday, May 17, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

4) HONOLULU (NIGHT WORK)
Two right lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction on Sunday night, May 12, through Friday morning, May 17, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for guardrail and shoulder improvements. The School Street onramp to the H-1 Freeway westbound will be closed during this time. Motorists will be detoured via Palama Street and Vineyard Boulevard.

 

  • One lane will be closed in the vicinity of the Middle Street overpass.
  • Two right lanes and shoulder will be closed between the Nuuanu Avenue overpass and the Liliha Street overpass.

 

5) HONOLULU (NIGHT WORK)

Two lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Palama Street offramp (Exit 20C) and the Houghtailing Street offramp (Exit 20B) on Monday night, May 13, through Friday morning, May 17, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for sign work.

 

6) KAPOLEI (NIGHT WORK)

Lane closure on the H-1 Freeway in both directions between Wakea Street and the Kualakai Parkway underpass on Monday night, May 13, through Friday morning, May 17, from 9 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., for electrical maintenance.

 

7) KAPOLEI
Lane closure on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Makakilo Drive overpass and the Farrington Highway offramp (Exit 1E) on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for sign installations.

Two right lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the H-1/H-2 Split and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass on Friday night, May 17, through Saturday morning, May 18, from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., for shoulder widening work. A third lane will be closed from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Partial lane closure on the H-2 Freeway in the southbound direction on the Waianae offramp (Exit 1B) on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for storm drain cleaning.

Lane closure on the H-2 Freeway in the southbound direction between the Ka Uka Boulevard overpass and the Waiawa Interchange on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for guardrail improvements.

Lane closure on the H-201 Moanalua Freeway in the eastbound direction in the vicinity of the Aiea Access Road overpass on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

2) MOANALUA

Shoulder lane closure on the H-201 Moanalua Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Ahua Street overpass and the Middle Street overpass, on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for trenching and utility work.

 

 

— FARRINGTON HIGHWAY (ROUTES 93/930) —

 

1) MAKAHA (NIGHT WORK)

Lane closures on Farrington Highway (Route 93) in the eastbound direction between Makaha Valley Road and Leihoku Street on Wednesday night, May 15, through Friday morning, May 17, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for repaving work as part of the Farrington Hwy Resurfacing, Phase II from Hakimo Road to Kili Drive project. Traffic will be contraflowed.

 

2) MAKAHA (NIGHT WORK)

Lane closures on Farrington Highway (Route 93) between Hakimo Road and Kili Drive on Wednesday night, May 15, through Friday morning, May 17, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for repaving work as part of the Farrington Hwy Resurfacing, Phase II from Hakimo Road to Kili Drive project. Traffic will be contraflowed.

 

3) MAKAHA

Alternating lane closure on Farrington Highway (Route 93) in both directions between Kili Drive and Makua Valley Road on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for paving work. Traffic will be contraflowed. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be limited.

 

4) MAKAHA

Roving lane closure on Farrington Highway in both directions between Kili Drive and Makaha Valley Road on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for manhole work part of Phase II from Hakimo Road to Kili Drive project. Traffic will be contraflowed.

 

5) MAKAHA

Lane closures on Farrington Highway (Route 93) in the westbound direction between Ala Hema Street and Makaha Valley Road on Monday, May 13, through Wednesday, May 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for repaving work as part of the Farrington Hwy Resurfacing, Phase II from Hakimo Road to Kili Drive project. Traffic will be contraflowed.

Roving lane closure on Kahekili Highway (Route 83) in the northbound direction between Kahuhipa Street and Hui Iwa Street on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for sewer maintenance work.

Alternating lane closures and lane shifts on Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) in both directions between West Hind Drive and Ainakoa Avenue on Sunday night, May 12, through Friday morning, May 17, from 8:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., for striping work. Traffic will be contraflowed.

Alternating lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway in the northbound direction between Flamingo Road and Keolu Drive on Monday, May 13, through Thursday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for tree trimming.

Lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) in the Hawaii Kai bound direction between Kumuhau Street and Mekia Street on Monday night, May 13, through Friday morning, May 17, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., for roadway reconstruction and utility work.

Lane closure on Kamehameha Highway (Route 99) in the southbound direction in the vicinity of Kawaipuna Street on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for utility work. Traffic will be contraflowed.

 

7) PEARL CITY

Lane closure on Kamehameha Highway (Route 99) in both directions between Acacia Road and Waihona Street on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for The Rail project. Later in the week the eastbound lane will be shifted to the left and traffic will be detoured to Kuala Street, over a 24-hour period.

Closure of Nimitz Highway/Ala Moana Boulevard (Route 92) in the eastbound direction between Atkinson Drive and Lagoon Drive on Sunday, May 12, from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m., for the Honolulu Triathlon. Motorists are advised to take the H-1 Freeway or Dillingham Boulevard as an alternate route.

 

Travelers may access the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport and Lagoon Drive via the H-1 freeway. Access to Elliott Street is available via Aolele Street.

One lane will be tentatively closed from 2:30 a.m. to 5 a.m. Detour signs to Wylie Street and Nuuanu Avenue will be posted.

  • Right lane will be closed from Waokanaka Street to Dowsett Avenue from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Lane will be closed at the Funchal Street intersection from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Access to Honolulu-bound Pali Highway will be limited to school traffic only. Traffic will be detoured via South Kuakini Street.
  • Lane will be closed from the Wyllie Street overpass to South Kuakini Street from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Lane closure on the Pali Highway offramp (Exit 21A) from the eastbound H-1 Freeway from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Right lane closure on the Vineyard Boulevard offramp (Exit 20B) from the eastbound H-1 Freeway from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Access to Sand Island Access Road will be closed via Nimitz Highway in both directions on Sunday, May 12, from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m., for the Honolulu Triathlon. Sand Island Access Road will be accessible via the H-1 Freeway westbound viaduct.

Left lane closure on Meheula Parkway in the eastbound direction to the northbound H-2 Freeway on Wednesday, May 15, from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for installation of delineators.

 

 

— HALAWA VALLEY STREET —

 

1) HALAWA (NIGHT WORK)

Lane closure on Halawa Valley Street in the westbound direction between Iwaiwa Street and the Ulune Extension on Monday night, May 13, through Friday morning, May 17, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., for the installation of new signs and sign structures.

 

Motorists traveling westbound on Halawa Valley Street will be detoured to Iwaiwa Street, then left onto Hulumanu Street and left onto Kahuapaani Street. Motorists wanting to access the westbound H-1 Freeway may turn left from Kahuapaani Street onto the Ulune Extension, then turn right onto the H-1 Freeway westbound onramp.

 

 

— KALIHI STREET (ROUTE 63) —

 

1) KALIHI (NIGHT WORK)

Lane closures on Kalihi Street (Route 63) in both directions between Dillingham Boulevard and Nimitz Highway on Tuesday night, May 14, through Friday morning, May 17, from 7 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., for signage work. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times.

 

 

— NORTH KING STREET —

 

1) MOANALUA TO KALIHI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Lane closure on North King Street in the eastbound direction between Puuloa Road and Ola Lane on Sunday night, May 12, and Friday morning, May 17, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for median work.

 

 

— MIDDLE STREET —

 

1) KALIHI (SIDEWALK AND BIKE PATH CLOSURE)

The west shared use walkway and bike path are closed on Middle Street between North King Street and Kamehameha Highway on Friday night, May 10, through Friday night, May 17, over a 24-hour period, for the Middle Street pavement reconstruction project. Pedestrians are directed to use the east sidewalk.

 

 

— PAIWA STREET —

 

1) WAIKELE

Right lane merge on the Paiwa Street onramp to the westbound H-1 Freeway on Tuesday, May 14, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for bridge inspections.

KAUAI LANE CLOSURES

FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 11 – MAY 17

— KAUMUALII HIGHWAY (ROUTE 50) —

 

 

1) HANAPEPE (24-HOUR CLOSURE)

The Hanapepe River Bridge on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) between Puolo Road and Iona Road will be closed, and traffic will be shifted to the adjacent temporary bridge over a twenty-four-hour period, seven days a week. Speed limit is reduced to 25 mph.

 

2) OMAO

Lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) in both directions between Maluhia Road and Kipu Road on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for vegetation and tree trimming work.

 

3) PUHI

Lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) in the westbound direction between Kalepa Road and Nuhou Street on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for tree trimming.

 

4) WAIMEA

Alternating lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) in both directions in the vicinity of Waimea River Bridge near Alawai Road on Wednesday, May 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for bridge inspection work.

 

 

— KAPULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 51) —

 

1) LIHUE

Lane closure on Kapule Highway (Route 51) in the northbound direction in the vicinity of mile marker 3 on Thursday, May 16, and Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming work.

 

 

— KUHIO HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560) —

 

1) HANALEI (24-HOUR CLOSURE)
Lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the Lihue-bound direction in the vicinity of mile marker 1, over a 24-hour period, from Saturday, May 4, until the slope stabilization work is completed. For more details on this project, click here.

 

2) KAPAA (NIGHT WORK)

Lane shift on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) between Hoi Road and Papaloa Road on Monday night, May 13, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., for utility repairs.

 

3) KALIHIWAI

Alternating lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) in both directions between Kalihiwai Road and Kahiliholo Road on Monday, May 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for bridge inspection work.

 

4) KILAUEA
Lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in both directions in the vicinity of North Koolau Road on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for landscaping work.

 

5) LIHUE (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Alternating two-lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in both directions between North Leho Drive and Kapule Highway on Sunday night, May 12, through Friday morning, May 17, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for road reconstruction and repaving.

 

6) LIHUE TO HAENA

Alternating lane closures on Kuhio Highway (Route 56/560) in both directions from the beginning of the route in Lihue to the end of the route in Haena on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for vegetation control and roadside maintenance.

7) PRINCEVILLE
Lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in both directions between Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for vegetation removal.

8) WAIKOKO TO WAINIHA (EMERGENCY WORK, LOCAL ACCESS BY CONVOY)
Limited access for local traffic on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) between Waikoko and Wainiha on Mondays through Saturdays from 5:50 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays and holidays from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., due to slope stabilization work. Unescorted limited local access has been added to the Monday through Saturday schedule from 5:30 a.m. – 8:20 p.m., 12:45 p.m.- 2:15 p.m., and from 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. (unless bridge night work is scheduled). Night work on the Waipa and Waikoko Bridges will resume Monday, May 13, through Thursday, May 16, closing Kuhio Highway from 7:30 p.m. to 5:50 a.m. The state will continue shuttle service during the nightly closures between the Park and Ride and Wainiha with the Hanalei Colony Resort. 1) LIHUE

Alternating lane closure on Ahukini Road (Route 570) in both directions in the vicinity of the Kuhio Highway intersection on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for vegetation control and roadside maintenance.

 

 

— MAALO ROAD (ROUTE 583) —

 

1) LIHUE TO WAILUA

Alternating lane closures on Maalo Road (Route 583) in both directions from the beginning of the route at the intersection with Kuhio Highway to the end of the route at Wailua Falls on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for vegetation control and roadside maintenance.

 

 

— KAPAA BYPASS ROAD (ROUTE 5600) —

 

1) KAPAA

Alternating lane closures on the Temporary Kapaa Bypass Road (Route 5600) in both directions on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for vegetation control and roadside maintenance.

 

 

— KUAMOO ROAD (ROUTE 580) —

 

1) WAILUA

Alternating lane closures on Kuamoo Road (Route 580) in both directions from the beginning of the route at the intersection with Kuhio Highway to the end of the route on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for vegetation control and roadside maintenance.

— HANA HIGHWAY (ROUTES 36/360) —

 

1) KEANAE

Lane closures on Hana Highway (Route 360) in both directions at mile markers 7.8 and 16 on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for steel reinforcement installations and slope excavation. Traffic will be contraflowed.

 

2) PAIA

Shoulder closure on Hana Highway (Route 36) in the westbound direction between Ulupua Place and Alawai Road on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for retaining wall work.

 

 

HONOAPIILANI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 30)

 

1) LAHAINA

Lane closure on Honoapiilani Highway (Route 30) in both directions between Aholo Road and Lahainaluna Road on Thursday, May 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscape maintenance.

 

2) WAILUKU

Lane shift and shoulder closure on Honoapiilani Highway (Route 30) in both directions between Keanu Street and Waiko Road on Tuesday, May 14, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming work.

 

 

KUIHELANI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 380)

 

1) KAHULUI (DAY AND NIGHT WORK)

Up to two lanes closed on Kuihelani Highway (Route 380) in both directions (alternating) in the vicinity of Puunene Avenue on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., for traffic signal work.

1) WAILUKU

Alternating lane closure on Kaahumanu Avenue in both directions between Kainani Street and Kinipopo Street on Tuesday, May 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscape maintenance.

 

 

PUUNENE AVENUE

 

1) KAHULUI

Lane closure on Puunene Avenue in both directions between Hookele Street and Puukani Street on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., for traffic signal work.

 

 

KULANIHAKOI STREET

 

1) KIHEI (24-HOUR WORK)

Closure of Kulanihakoi Street in both directions between Piilani Highway and Mahealani Street, over a twenty-four hour period, 7 days a week, for sewer and water line work. Traffic will be directed to Kaonoulu Street and South Kihei Road as an alternate route.

 

 

LAHAINA BYPASS ROAD

Alternating lane closure on Lahaina Bypass Road in both directions between Hokiokio Place and Kupuohi Street on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for pavement marking work.

1) KAU

Alternating lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) in both directions between mile markers 56 and 57 in the vicinity of Punaluu Black Sand Beach on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., for bridge reconstruction work. Traffic will be detoured through temporary bypass bridges for the duration of remaining construction operations.

 

2) KAU

Alternating lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) in both directions between mile markers 54 and 55 in Pahala on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., for landscaping work.

 

3) NORTH KONA

Alternating lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) in both directions between mile markers 29 and 31 on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., for landscaping and shoulder work.

 

4)  PUNA

Alternating lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) in both directions in the vicinity of Mile Marker 17 and 19 on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for landscaping and shoulder work.

 

5) SOUTH KONA

Alternating lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) in both directions between mile markers 108 and 109 on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., for landscaping and shoulder work.
