Hawaii Insurance Division Releases New Resource to Help Clarify Insurance Coverages
HONOLULU – The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Insurance Division reminds residents to review their insurance policies and know what they cover this hurricane season.
“Although hurricane season officially runs from June through November, disaster can happen at any time. It is important to evaluate your insurance coverage, create a disaster plan, and protect yourself and your family. Insurance protects against unanticipated losses which can have a significant and negative financial impact.
The recent flooding and volcanic activity in the state serves as a reminder to properly insure what matters, understand your coverages and to update home inventories,” said Hawaii Insurance Commissioner Gordon Ito. “A great resource is our newly published booklet which covers common homeowners, renters, and motor vehicle insurance misconceptions.”
The “My Insurance Doesn’t Cover What?” booklet serves as a guide to equip consumers with information to better prepare for an emergency and understand what may or may not be covered by their insurance policy or policies. The Insurance Division offers more consumer tips and information including the new booklet online at cca.hawaii.gov/ins.
