PUC CONDUCTS PUBLIC HEARING ON HAWAIIAN ELECTRIC’S OVERHEAD LINE CONSTRUCTION FOR PU‘ULOA SOLAR PROJECT

March 4, 2026
HONOLULU – The Hawaiʻi Public Utilities Commission will conduct a public hearing on Monday, March 9 at 6 p.m. at the Oʻahu Veterans Center. Commissioners will receive public input on the Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc. request for approval of its amended and restated power purchase agreement with Pu‘uloa Solar, LLC, a 6-megawatt photovoltaic project, paired with a battery energy storage system.
Hawaiian Electric proposes to construct an overhead 46 kV sub-transmission line extension near the intersection of Salt Lake Boulevard and Namur Road to interconnect the project to Hawaiian Electric’s system. The proposed overhead line extension will span approximately 70 feet south of the project’s substation on land owned by Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend and share their views during the hearing.
