HAWAIʻI NATIONAL GUARD DEMOBILIZES WATER DISTRIBUTION SUPPORT FOR MILL AND OTAKE CAMPS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 22, 2026
HONOLULU — The Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency (HIEMA), in coordination with the Hawaiʻi National Guard (HING), is informing the public that alternate water distribution support operations at Mill and Otake camps are concluding as of today.
With interim water distribution now established for residents in the affected areas, HING will demobilize its support mission at Mill and Otake camps. This transition reflects continued coordination among state and local partners to ensure residents have access to water resources while response operations shift to the next phase.
HIEMA appreciates the support provided by HING and the coordinated efforts of all partner agencies that helped meet community needs during this operational period.
“As alternate water distribution is now in place for the residents of Mill and Otake camps, the Hawaiʻi National Guard is concluding its support mission in this area. We are proud to have assisted our communities during this period of need and remain ready to support the state of Hawaiʻi whenever called upon,” said HIEMA Director, Maj. Gen. Stephen Logan.
Residents are encouraged to continue following guidance from local officials regarding available water distribution resources, service locations and any updates related to ongoing support operations. The new distribution site is located at the southeast corner of Kealohanui and Puʻuiki Streets.
“HIEMA appreciates the partnership and support provided by the Hawaiʻi National Guard in helping meet immediate water needs for residents of Mill and Otake camps. As this mission transitions, we will continue coordinating with our partners to help ensure the community has clear information on available resources and ongoing support,” said HIEMA Administrator James Barros.
Additional information will be shared as needed through official state and county communication channels.
