**UPDATE** Missing OCCC Work Furlough Inmate in custody

 

HONOLULU — State Sheriff deputies captured Oʻahu Community Correctional Center (OCCC) work furlough inmate Whitney Edayan in Haleʻiwa Friday, January 12, 2024, after he failed to return to Module 20 Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024.

Edayan, 66, left Module 20 on a job-seeking furlough pass that morning and was supposed to return at about noon Thursday. Sheriff’s deputies located him in Haleiwa at about 8:50 a.m. today and arrested him.

Sheriff’s deputies subsequently booked him for escape and returned him to custody at OCCC.

Edayan is serving time for felony sex assault and kidnapping.
