Missing Laumaka work furlough inmate back in custody

 

HONOLULU — Honolulu police arrested work furlough inmate Keenan Acia in Kaimuki today, March 27, 2024, after he was reported missing from the Laumaka Work Furlough Center on Monday, March 25, 2024.

 

Acia, 28, left Laumaka at 8 a.m. Monday on a job-seeking pass and was reported missing after he failed to return by 2:30 p.m. Monday. State Sheriffs and Honolulu police were immediately notified.

 

Honolulu police arrested Acia in Kaimukī at approximately 8:35 a.m. today. He was returned to custody at the O‘ahu Community Correctional Center (OCCC).

 

The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR) thanks the Honolulu Police Department for their assistance.

 

Acia is serving time for first-degree burglary and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle. He may face an additional charge of escape in the second-degree.

 

Acia is a community custody inmate in the work furlough program with pass privileges. Community custody is the lowest classification status.
